One of the nicest, well kept marinas we have experienced. The staff is friendly and accessible, especially Kristin. We had a prop issue that suddenly needed attention and even during Fall haul out season, Doug and Erik found a way to fit us in. The amenities are top notch. Laundry service is free. And the information packet is extremely informative.

We had a great couple days at SHGI. Terrific staff, great docks, good food at Iris eatery, and we hiked in the Anna Tondreau Preserve a short walk away. We will definitely be back.

I cant say enough of the fine service from staff and management, truly the best marina I have been to....let me explain. The dockhand are courteous, helpful and want to help in any way possible and are always available because they are constantly walking the docks working and looking for things to make the place shipshape. The docks are spotless, no seagull poop on the docks or unsightly trash lying around, also the dockhands are young gentlemen, polished...
There is an area for grilling, beautiful chairs, checkered table cloths on the picnic tables, very nice grill and a canopy to hide from the sun...Everything A+++ for a grilling experience.
The grounds again are spotless and well maintained, absolutely no unsightly areas to be seen. the laundry room and lounge again spotless and well maintained...upscale.
The yard workers were super nice and happy to answer a question or just say hello in passing. This leads to management, clearly they have honed their skills at running a great marina and yacht repair facility.
I have to mention how beautiful the marina fits into the environmental setting, it all looks picture perfect. Safeharbor Great Island is a hidden gem, it's the very best Safe Harbor has to offer and I want to thank everyone who made our stay there enjoyable and peaceful. Hope to stop here in the future. GIBY is the a wonderful boatyard. It is a place with terrific team from the General Manager, Trevor and of a team very skilled technicians and mechanics. It is a fabulous facility with very clean and attractive amenities for clients and guests. When we come to Maine we always go to GIBY for the best service and most comfort. Cannot beat GIBY if you are on a boat and want it to be repaired, tuned up, stored …you name it. Cannot say enough good stuff about Safe Harbor Great Island. A real Gem.

Great quiet and protected Harbor. Great and new amenities. Local cafe closes at 3 pm so we didn’t check it out. Very difficult if you wish to get a taxi or Uber to town, but otherwise a nice quiet Harbor

One of the most beautiful settings I’ve ever seen. At the end of a long bay spectacular facility with the nicest staff and customers and an amazing luncheonette on site that has provisions to go. The best lobster Mac and cheese I’ve ever had!

Very pleasant place and staff. Only marina ever that has emailed a chart of their mooring field with an arrow to our reserved mooring!!! Definitely 5 stars. Although no regular launch service they graciously transported us to and from the dock for showers and ice.

In over 50 years of cruising I have rarely come across a marina that was so impressive. It is extremely well managed and the staff at all levels is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The yard is scrupulously clean and customer's boats are handled with care.

We have traveled from the north of maine all downd the east coast and back up the florida panhandle and stayed in many good and bad marina. This is by far the best managed, most hospitable, and service oriented marina we have ever experience.great facilties, people, maintence and service. Priceless.

Very impressed with the overall facility. We launched here and stayed at a slip.
The entire property was clean and well taken care of. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately the ramp is shallow and use had to be timed with the tides.
We will definitely be visiting again.

Gorgeous spot, we had a mooring. The dinghy dock was easy to get to with lots of space and is well kept. Fuel and water easily obtained before heading to the mooring ball. Beautiful heads/showers. Nice laundry room. Excellent cafe just up the hill (Iris Eats). Great spot!

Safe Harbor Great Island is located just 40 minutes north of Portland, in a naturally protected and beautiful cove. We have a happy and welcoming operation. Our modern boat yard facilities include a custom post and beam building housing offices, a ship’s store, and guest amenities. Iris Eats, is an excellent eatery located onsite! While staying in our marina, you also gain access to our experienced riggers, and expert mechanical and electrical service techs to keep you up and running.
Safe Harbor Great Island cares for over 200 boats in the winter and keeps over 100 in the marina for the summer. We offer “shipyard” capabilities with the personal and friendly service. Over half of our customers come to us from other New England states. A parade of boats makes the 120-mile trip between Safe Harbor Great Island and the Cape Cod Canal every spring and fall. We paint, repair, repower, and refit dozens of sailboats and motor yachts annually. We have extensive indoor storage facilities which allows our crew to function efficiently, year-round.
Transient slips and moorings are available; for reservations, please call, email, or book via the Dockwa app. Waste pump-out equipment is provided on a no-charge basis. Safe Harbor Great Island monitors VHF channel 09, and uses 10 as a working channel.
