Marina at Emerald Bay

We spent a week at Emerald Bay with two of the days having winds gusting over 30 knots. Many notes mention how rolly it can be in the marina, however it was not as bad as we had thought. We did double up on lines just in case but as long as you have the proper amount of tension in your lines you should be okay. I stayed alone for a few of the days as my husband flew back to the US and felt safe there alone as there is nightly security. The free laundry is nice, yes there are at times long waits but it is free. The only downsides were that Sandals is not giving the property any money to maintain the property and it is showing. The restrooms and showers were in quite bad condition as there were many tiles missing and were lacking things such as hand soap, etc. The staff was extremely friendly and I can't fault them for this, but shame on Sandals for not giving them the proper funding.

Donavon and the team are excellent, the location is convenient, and the fuel dock is easy in and out and well equipped (not common in the Bahamas). However, Sandals is clearly not giving them the resources it takes to keep a marina going. It is a shame to see.

Great place great staff. Be sure to ask for a slip WITH electric and water. Not all slips have it. During a easterly blow, swell can be a little choppy in the basin. The Sandals resort is not issuing day passes at this time. There is a smaller resort called Grand Isle right across the road that you can use no problem.
