Always a perfect stay. I missed the email for my mooring number so I picked up a mooring for one night that a previous harbor master put us on a frequently and the following day the current harbornaster guided us to the right mooring. Awesome time once again!
Marina Response:
We have been trying to change the culture. It is illegal to rent out a private mooring. We do not accept cash or tips. Town Moorings are allocated only through Dockwa. Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Great spot for sunsets. Very protected area

Very nice area. Beach is beautiful; mooring balls well maintained and cheap; Harbor Master very helpful and responsive. Couldn’t ask for better! Sadly we had a raft-up of power boats that partied well into the late night one of the three nights we were there. Harbor Master intervened the next day and it was back to quiet nights. Swells do roll in around the point but they gentle rollers and not uncomfortable.

Super place. Harbormaster was on a day off, but was responsive to questions by text. Beautiful and quite.

It was lovely with only 3 or 4 transience staying at Sachuest. Mooring pennant was clean. Normally, we would anchor, but there was a 18 knot easterly which made Third Beach a lee shore making it prudent to pick up a mooring. My only issue was when we reserved the mooring on the previous Tuesday we were not assigned mooring #. The mooring assignment # came via email on Friday morning of our stay. Unfortunately, we go old school and are not connected to the web while sailing or cruising consequently, I did not get that information until we returned home to Bristol on Sunday.
Marina Response:
Weekends are very popular with various size vessels, we assign mooring numbers by the size of the vessel, and the earliest reservations, is the formula we use. The harbor master can be contacted on VHF channel 9, via the Harbor cell phone(401-871-6544) or the most popular by text on Dockwa. It’s always prudent in any harbor to contact the Harbor master before picking up, you never know what size tackle is down there.

First time renting a mooring at 3rd beach. We loved it and will definitely b e back. You get the best of both worlds boating and the beach. It's like a little piece of heaven.

Very calm and there were only a few boats at the moorings. Many moorings were empty all day & night. Wind was out of the light out of the SE and shifted to NE by morning. Very few waves. Could see swells building from the SE as we left in the morning, but we had no such swells overnight.

Although there were no amenities it was a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing stay.

A gem doesn’t do justice to the tranquility and beauty of this place. Breathtaking is just one of many adjectives describing 3rd beach. While it may not have restaurant’s it has great moorings, deep enough clean water and a magnificent beach right at the top of my list of stop overs when east or west Smoke & Mirrors

The mooring was easy to find. The mooring pendant was relatively free of growth. We arrived when a 12knot NE breeze was blowing. The motion on the mooring was very easy.

A small number of town moorings well marked and well sheltered from a south westerly breeze. A very pleasant Harbormaster. Thank you for the stay.

We had engine trouble and the harbor master was very quick to assist us and get us safely to the mooring. Five star effort! Also a very pretty place to moor and anchor; fully protected from the south westerlies.

About Town of Middletown Harbormaster

Located on the west side of the entrance to the Sakonnet River, Third Beach has often been described as a hidden gem. What it lacks in amenities, it makes up with its beauty and charm. The harbor is often a destination for day trippers looking to enjoy a relaxing afternoon or as an overnight stop on your way to the Elizabeth Islands or Block Island. Our mooring field can accommodate boats up to 60 feet and we allow rafting. Anchoring is allowed upon approval from the Harbormaster. Third Beach is a very family friendly beach and is accessible by dinghy.

The Harbor Master position is a seasonal position. Emails sent after Labor day will not be answered. We start accepting reservations on May 1st. Thank you.
