Always my favorite place to day trip or overnight. It’s the best spot for being right in the heart of Salem. Great docks and the best staff. Mike and the guys are always there to help.

The location was nice and the waters were really calm. The bathrooms here were really gross. Mold and hairballs in both showers.

Unfortunately we were met with rough seas, which we were not expecting. We decided to turn around and head back to our home port. I immediately called Pickering Wharf and was told the dock master was off for 3 days. I called 3 days later and asked if there was any chance of a rain check. The answer was a quick “no” and an he hung up on me. I understand the policy but the response was rude. Probably won’t be going back.
Marina Response:
Our policy, we do not offer any refunds within 72 hrs. We do however in rare circumstances do offer a raincheck (at the Dockmaster discretion). This was not one of those. Forecast from NOAA was 2' at 8 seconds. We also checked buoy markers and nothing over 2' reported live. Did you preferred a slow "no ? After you acknowledged the "no" twice you fell silent. Assuming you were done I ended the call. Was there something else you wanted to discuss?by Robert C. - Verified user on Aug 01, 2025
Great location for fantastic restaurants and downtown Salem, easy docking, only downfall is the distance to the bathrooms/showers from where we were docked.

We had a great time for an overnight here. The anchorage is right in the heart of Salem, the water is extremely well-protected and although there is a lot of night-time activity surrounding the location, it was quiet by 10. Mike, the dockmaster, was easy to reach and responded promptly. The docks are in *excellent* shape. Approach is not complicated and we had plenty of room to maneuver our 41' boat in and out. The marina is super close to downtown, but there are plenty of eating and drinking options within 100 yds.
I did read the comments about the bathrooms and honestly, although they were the part of the facility which needs the most attention (because not much else does), they were perfectly acceptable. The bath/laundry is all behind a common door (with key-code access only). There are 3 seperate toilets and 2 showers, each with a door that locks (either a push-button or a barrel latch). The area was pretty clean. For sure, I've been to marinas where I just preferred to shower on the boat, but this wasn't even close. I was perfectly happy with them.

Dick welcomed us at the dock and was helpful and kind. The second day the dock person was condescending and disrespectful. The location of our slip was at the end of the marina and it wasn’t busy so it was easy to get in and out. Keep to the middle of the channel. Our sailboat was fine getting though during low tide with 4’ 3” draft. The liquor store ran out of ice but you can get it at the gas station. It would be nice of the marina had ice. The bathrooms and showers look gross. The breakfast places don’t open until 8:00. But some cafes are open at 7:00. The icream store closes at 9. Hours may be different on the weekend.

Convenient location minutes from downtown, restaurants and sights like house of seven gables. Bathrooms are of community camping quality, fair. Two Individual toilets with locking door, and two shower stalls with locking door, sliding latch. Overall Quiet, tranquil. Would stay again

Great spot! Mike was very helpful with a faulty dock power connection. New posts are nice looking, but very touchy GFCI’s. Mike helped with a 50’ 50A cord to an original power post. Great weekend!

Great location with plenty of shops and restaurants. The Marina was clean and quiet. The person who ran the place made is super easy for us and made sure we had everything we needed. The Marianas was located where there was very little movement which made it extra comfortable while sleeping on board.

Great protected downtown location, nice floating docks and we enjoyed the Dockmaster but the showers were awful. Dirty and buggy.
